Program Description
Join Phipps' Master Gardener, Marina Pawlesh to learn and try your hand at the Japanese botanical art of Kokedama. Marina has taught this class at Phipps' and for other libraries and garden clubs across the Pittsburgh area.
Kokedama has its origins in Japanese bonsai and is the Japanese technique of wrapping a plant’s root ball in moss for display, either by hanging or on a decorative dish or bowl. Participants will be learning what types of plants are best for making kokedamas, how to assemble a kokedama and tips for caring for kokedamas.
There will be a supply fee for this workshop once we know the costs of the plants. Marina estimates that the charge of 1 plant + other supplies will cost between $10-15.
