Program Description
Free knitting lessons at the library! Melissa has been knitting for over 20 years and has extensive experience from when she used to work at a local yarn shop. She'd like to share her knowledge with the community.
Things you'll learn:
Casting-On
Working "in the round"
Knit Stitch
Purl Stitch
Here's the catch: PLEASE BRING YOUR OWN SUPPLIES
-1 Size 8 or size 9 CIRCULAR knitting needle, 16" or 24" (measurements will be listed on the package) Found at Michaels, Hobby Lobby, JoAnn (if it's still there.) Click here for link. to buy online. Or visit a local yarn store (see below).
-Ball of "worsted weight" or "Size 4" yarn in a BRIGHT or LIGHT color - Dark colors are really hard to see when you're learning. Recommend wool or wool blend yarn or acrylic. No cotton. Can be found at Michael's, Hobby Lobby, JoAnn (if it's still there) Click here for link to buy online. Or visit a local yarn store (see below).
We will have yarn and needles available if you forget or aren't ready to invest, but we can't let them leave the library, so you won't be able to take your project home to work on it.
I highly recommend you take a trip to a local yarn store if you can. You'll get a lot of advice and expertise and get excellent quality products to learn with.
